Filtering and Grouping options on the Homepage

Tiles (elements) at the Metric Insights Homepage may be filtered by various parameters that can be selected from the drop-fown lists located at the top of the page.

You can combine selection from all or several drop-down lists and, additionally, type in key words into the Search field to narrow the Homepage display.

How to define default Filtering and Grouping for your own Homepage

'Topics' drop-down list

'Topics' drop-down list

The Topics filtering drop-down lists all the Topics from Content > Topics.

If there is indent before the Topic title, it is a Child Topic with a Parent Topic shown above it.

'Filter' drop-down list

'Filter' drop-down list

This drop-down list includes the following filtering options:

  • Content:
    • Metric, Multi-Metric, Report
    • External Reports are represented as respective External Report Types (for example, Tableau Report, Cognos report, etc.). Although one plugin may have a lot of Data Source profiles, it usually has only one External Report Type, so by filtering by a specific External Report Type (for example, Tableau Report), all Tableau Reports (of different Data Source profiles) are to be shown on the Homepage.
    • External Content is represented by respective External Content Type (for example, Google Doc file, Youtube Video, Excel Workbook etc.).
  • New Alerts: Good News / Bad News
  • Elements I own: Limits the Homepage display to only those elements which are created by the logged in user. If the logged in user didn't create any elements, this option is hidden from the drop-down list.
  • Stoplight: (Underperforming, Performing, Outperforming)
  • Dimensions and their Dimension Values

'Grouping' drop-down list

'Grouping' drop-down list

This drop-down list includes the following filtering options:

  • Favorites & Categories: Groups the content by Favorite folders and Categories in the same order as they are listed on the Left Sidebar.
  • Content Type: Groups the Homepage content into different External Report Types and External Content Types.
  • Update Frequency: Groups the elements by the respective Data Collection Trigger (update trigger).
  • Time: Daily, Weekly, etc: Groups all elements by their Measure of value (for example, Hourly Sales, Daily Performance)
  • Stoplight Performance: Shows those elements that need mode attention first. From the bottom to the top: Underperforming > Performing > Overperforming elements.
  • Topic: Groups all Tiles by Topics unlike the Topic drop-down list, which filters out only one selected Topic.
  • Dimensions: If you choose a specific Dimension from the drop-down list, the elements on the Homepage are going to be grouped in the following way: from the top to the bottom: By Dimension Values > all other available Tiles.
