Enable Median Aggregation for Datasets and Metrics

This article describes how to use median function for Dataset column aggregation and Metrics based on Datasets.  A median is a value separating the higher half from the lower half of a data sample.

PREREQUISITES:

1. Access Admin > Collection & Storage > Data Storage

Select the storage where the elements that are using the median aggregation will be saved. In the Info tab of Data Storage Editor:

  1. Activate Median Aggregation Available

2. Median Aggregation for Datasets

2.1. Create or Open an Existing Dataset

  1. From the Data Tab of Dataset Viewer, select [View]

2.2. Choose Aggregation Function

  1. Select a field which data will be aggregated, set Aggregation to Median
  2. [Apply Changes]
  3. The median values of selected field are displayed

3. Median Aggregation for Metrics

3.1. Open Dataset Viewer

  1. Select a View
  2. Actions > Build Metrics

For more information on creating Metrics from Dataset View, see Create one or multiple Metrics from a Dataset View.

3.2. Choose Aggregation Function

  1. Aggregate using: "Median"
  2. [Add Metric]
  3. Metric aggregated using median is displayed

3.3. Set Aggregation Function from the Metric Editor

Alternatively, you can choose median as an aggregation function from the Metric Editor:

  1. Access the Data tab
  2. Choose Aggregate using Median

4. Median Aggregation for Dataset Reports

4.1. Open Dataset Viewer

  1. Select a View
  2. [Actions] > [Build Report]

4.2. Enable Median Aggregation from the Dataset Report Viewer

  1. Click on the arrow near the column name, then select Aggregation > Median

4.3. Enable Median Aggregation from the Column Editor

Alternatively, enable median aggregation from the Column Editor:

  1. Click on the arrow near the column name, select [Edit Column]
