Granting Power User Ability to Create Business Units

When creating a Group in Metric Insights, the Power User can choose to add that Group to the existing Business Unit. However, to be able to create a Business Unit, Power Users have to be granted a specific Privilege. This article describes the steps an Administrator should take to give the Power User ability to create Business Units.

Assign the "Create a Business Unit" Privilege

With this Privilege, the Power User receives access to the Business Units entry in the Admin menu and can open the Business Unit list. This Privilege also allows the Power User to create a Business Unit.

Access Admin > Users & Groups and click on the PU's Active Name link to open the User Editor

NOTE: "Create a Business Unit" Privilege can be a part of a Privilege Set. Assigning Privilege Sets rather than specific Privileges is recommended in Metric Insights, so check the Privileges List at the bottom of the page. If the "Create a Business Unit" Privilege is not in the list, proceed with this step.

  1. [+Privilege To User]
  2. Filter the list by "business unit"
  3. Find the "Create a Business Unit" Privilege and select the checkbox
  4. [Save]

NOTE: The Power User can receive the ability to create Business Units, but not Edit Access to the Business Units created by other Users. Even if the PU has Edit Access to the Groups that are included in the Business Unit, she can't edit the Business Unit itself.
