Create a Pivot Table in a Report
Creating Pivot Tables has been greatly simplified by using the new Dataset Reporting feature - see Dataset Reports Overview (New in 5.3)
A Report can contain one or more Pivot Tables based upon its underlying Result Set. This article outlines the process for creating a new Pivot Table from the Report Editor.

1. Add Pivot from the Report Content tab
In the Report Content tab of the Report Editor, click on the [+ Pivot] button.
2. Complete the Add Pivot pop-up - DYNAMIC pivot
The Report Column to be used for the pivot table:
- Row Values (will typically be the left-most column in the Pivot Table)
- Column Values - each value will appear as a column in the Pivot
- Aggregation method and the Column to aggregate
Save to display Static Pivot Editor
2.1. Complete Pivot Information (Info tab)
- Indicate rows to include in Digest, if any
- Set options for displaying the Pivot rows
- Set options for displaying the Pivot columns
- Select how Pivot data is defined / determined
- Add Totals for pivot row and/or column values
2.2. Complete and Publish
Optionally, modify:
- Pivot Charts: see this Choose the Type of Chart to be used in a Report for assistance
- Pivot Filters: apply filters to limit pivot data
Update live Report to complete

3. Complete the Add Pivot pop-up - DYNAMIC pivot
The Report Column to be used for the pivot table:
- Row Values (will typically be the left-most column in the Pivot Table)
- Column Values - each value will appear as a column in the Pivot (leaving blank for this example)
- Aggregation method and the Column to aggregate
- Save to display Static Pivot Editor
3.1. Complete Pivot Information
- Indicate rows to include in Digest, if any
- Set options for displaying the Pivot rows
- Set options for displaying the Pivot columns
- Select how Pivot data is defined / determined
- Choose a format to display the Pivot
- Determine which columns will be dynamic (available to Pivot)
3.2. Add Filters (optional) and Publish
Optionally, modify:
- Pivot Filters: apply filters to limit pivot data
Save & publish to complete
