Using MI Chatbot in Microsoft Teams

This article gives an overview of how to use the Metric Insights Chatbot in the Microsoft Teams chat to fetch data from Metric Insights.

The ability to search for Metric Insights content with the MI Chatbot is governed by the corresponding Security Provisions (learn more from Microsoft Teams Security).

PREREQUISITES:

  1. MI Chatbot must be deployed to your server.
  2. Microsoft Teams Configuration: an App with bot functions must be created in Microsoft Teams.

1. Use MI Chatbot in a Channel

In Microsoft Teams, open the Team chat and start a post. Address the bot using @bot_name and use the !search command. In response, the "Bot sent a card" message appears, and MI Chatbot gives you the search results in the private chat.

2. Check the Search Results

The MI Chatbot provides the search results in batches of six elements.

  1. Click [Preview] to receive the Element as a more detailed card
  2. Under the list there is a notification, showing the number of items the chatbot found
  3. Click [Show more] to receive six more Elements

3. Share the Result

After clicking [Preview], MI Chatbot sends you a detailed Element card. If the User has appropriate Permissions, she can send the Element card to the Team chat by clicking [Share].
