Viewer for Excel, Word, PowerPoint from Local Filesystem

Local Filesystem Plugin supports the use of files as Other External Content. Viewers of Other External Content can show a real preview of files with the following extensions:

  • .xlsx, .xls  
  • [6.3.1]: .doc, .docx, .ppt, .pptx

Some imitations are briefly outlined in this article.  

Configure Other External Content from Local Filesystem

To preview the real Excel file, Show in and Display in Viewer on the Configuration tab must be set as shown below:

  • Show in: "Viewer"
  • Display in Viewer: "External web page"

NOTE: The following features are not supported for Excel file display:

  1. Format cell alignment
  2. Sheets formatting
  3. Some numeric and date display masks as well as currency
  4. Conditional formatting
  5. Formatting as Table
  6. Pictures
  7. Shapes/SmartArt/Screenshots
  8. Pivot Tables
  9. Charts
  10. Hyperlinks
