Prerequisites for Connecting to Alation

This article details on how to create a refresh token and locate User ID in order to establish connectivity to Alation.

1. Create Refresh Token

1.1. Access Authentication

  1. Access My Account
  2. Select Account Settings
  3. Proceed to the Authentication tab
  4. [Create Refresh Token]

1.2. Generate Token

  1. Provide Refresh Token Name
  2. [Create Refresh Token]
  3. Copy and save the token's value to be used as Refresh Token in Metric Insights
  4. [Done]

2. Locate User ID

  1. Access My Account
  2. Select User Profile
  3. Locate a user ID in the URL after /user/. The value is User ID in Metric Insights.
