Sync Alation Custom Fields with Metric Insights Elements

There is a way to sync Custom Fields from Alation with Elements in Metric Insights.

PREREQUISITES:

  • Same Custom Fields must exist in Metric Insights.
  • Dataset created from the Full relations object.

1. Sync Custom Fields with Elements

Access Admin > Reference Objects > Custom Fields > Autosync > +Custom Field Autosync

  1. Provide a descriptive Name.
  2. Select a Dataset created from the Full relations object.
  3. Set Type to Element.
  4. Set Match on to "External ID".
  5. Select "MI parsed ID" for Name Column.
  6. Map fields.
  7. [Save]
  8. [Sync Now]

2. Verify Result

As a result, Custom Fields will be assigned to the corresponding Elements.
